Our small design studio has a portfolio of exciting projects including blockbuster exhibitions, temporary and permanent gallery displays. The studio is fast-paced, collaborative and hands-on, working iteratively with curators, consultants and collaborators to design distinctive and meaningful experiences for the public.

What we’re looking for:
We are looking for a talented designer, qualified to part-2 with concept design and fabrication/construction experience to become part of our team. You will closely collaborate with the lead architects on larger projects and will also have small projects of your own to run.

In this role you will develop designs from concept through to completion, producing diagrams, sketches, 3d CAD and physical models, visuals, design presentations, drawing package submissions, specifications and schedules. You will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects from concepting and pitches, to construction on site, internal design reviews and improving studio systems and standards.

The ideal candidate will:
1. Demonstrate conceptual thinking, curiosity and an abundance of design ideas.
2. Be an excellent designer with strong research, concepting, design, modelling and technical drawing skills and an appreciation for the detail required to realise world-class projects.
3. Highly organised, able to work both independently and in a small team, and comfortable taking on responsibility with a meticulous and proactive mindset.
4. Be an expert in Vectorworks (3D essential), Rhino, Adobe CC (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and MS Office.
5. Showcase impeccable Photoshop visualisation skills; rendering compelling visuals to communicate a design ambition and output.
6. Able to liaise with the consultant design team to collaborate and progress design development
7. Have an enthusiasm for making and a good understanding of construction methods and detailing.
8. Bring excellent communication skills to maintain good relationships with our range of internal clients and ensure communication between the design studio and print unit on planned works, timelines and completed artworks.
We work to ensure everyone can explore, be energised by and see themselves in the V&A, because difference fuels creativity and the V&A belongs to us all.

Please include a non-expiring weblink/download to your portfolio, within the statement section of the application.

Your portfolio should include:
• Examples of technical drawings and documents that you personally have created
• Projects that clearly demonstrate your approach to design.
