This is a Temporary, Full Time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

The V&A Conservation team is offering a five-month internship (or nine months part-time) specialising in Textile Conservation - an exciting opportunity to preserve and provide access to the V&A’s collection of South Asian art and design.

The V&A is embarking on a major project to update and re-contextualise the museum’s South Asia Gallery ahead of its planned opening in 2028. This transformation aims to celebrate South Asian perspectives and ensure that contemporary stakeholders are placed at the heart of its re-presentation.

The permanent gallery at V&A South Kensington displays highlights from a vast collection that spans 4,000 years and comprises around 60,000 objects- primarily from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. Interns will work directly on the assessment and conservation of a diverse range of either textile objects for display.

Supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, this role offers a unique hands-on opportunity to develop a broad range of practical conservation skills within a specific discipline, while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary project team across the organisation to realise the gallery transformation.

Join us for a pre-application webinar on Monday 6th July 2026 (16:00-17:00 BST) to explore our recruitment process, learn about the South Asia Galleries refurbishment project, internship structure, and ask your questions during a live Q&A - https://events.teams.microsoft.com/event/a874328d-487b-4182-add6-3bb45c09a0c2@6d72a8a6-623e-42c4-b817-045b4df2add4

  • Providing an inclusive and accessible recruitment process.
  • Making reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process so disabled job applicants have the best opportunity to demonstrate that they can do the job.
  • Supporting employees and adjustments during employment.

In some circumstances, such as when we receive a high volume of applications that meet the minimum criteria, we may not be able to guarantee an interview under the scheme. In these cases, we will interview only the highest-scoring applicants, from both people with disabilities and people without a disability.
